Sole Comfort offers a selection of preformed and customizable inserts to address the most common foot structures needing additional support. For the more complicated foot structures and conditions, a wide variety of custom orthotics are available. Our practice is not to fit all feet with the same type of support and our trained staff can determine what style is best to bring your whole foot structure to its best balance.

Functional Orthotics

This type of orthotic lasts anywhere from five to ten years. These orthotics have cast impressions taken non-weight bearing to capture the foot arches at their ideal position. We measure the calcaneus (heel bones) for degrees of valgus (leaning in) or varus (leaning out). Proper alignment benefits not only foot function but also improves joint alignment up the kinetic chain to benefit knees, hips, and backs.

General maintenance includes removing them from the shoe regularly and keeping them clean from excess dirt. Replacing the top covers when worn through the top cover may be necessary, depending on how often you wear them and how hard you are on them.

Plastazote Orthotics

Plastazote orthotics, sometimes referred to as soft tissue supplementation, come in multiple densities. They are direct molded to your feet and are made of the softest density for cushion on top with the firmer density on the bottom for support. These orthotics have an estimated material life of 1-2 years depending on usage.

Conditions: Loss of foot cushioning, arthritic feet, insensate feet, metatarsalgia.

What to expect from your inserts/orthotics

Give all new products a chance to work. Most people report a 70% relief of their symptoms within the first 4 to 6 weeks of wearing their foot care products. However, it may take as long as you have had your symptoms to experience full relief. That’s why it’s important to get help as soon as foot problems develop and to follow up with our staff specialists as recommended.
